The great American Hotrod. Hotrods
have been built out of regular cars and trucks for as long they have been
produced. Some of the things that can be done to a vehicle to classify it as a
hotrod include minor modifications such as putting glass pack mufflers on to get
a meaner sound, or a larger carburetor to increase the volume of fuel that
is delivered through the intake manifold to the cylinders to increase
horsepower. Some other radical things that can be done to a car or truck to
define it as a hotrod would include swapping engines and/or transmissions,
wheels and tires, or even a cool paintjob. What I would consider a major
modification to a car or truck would be chopping the top, or radiusing the
wheel wells to give the vehicle an altogether different look than that of a stock
ride. When you mix all these different aspects together and use them one one
particular vehicle, then you have what is considered to be a great hotrod. |
